Newly released Quinnipiac polls paint trouble for Sen. John McCain.  In three key battleground states, Sen. Barack Obama leads outside the margin of error.  In Pennsylvania, Obama is up by 12 points.  In Ohio, he leads by 6.  And in Florida, which was mired in a controversy over its Democratic primary that many observers thought could benefit McCain, who has the backing of popular GOP Governor Charlie Crist, Obama leads by 4.

Counting chickens too soon? Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Rick Goddard, who is challenging Democrat Jim Marshall for the middle-Georgia Congressional seat, was spotted in Washington earlier this week looking at expensive houses in the Capitol Hill area. Marshall has survived two well-financed challengers since his 2002 election, and is a top target of state and national Republicans.

McCain Slipping in Georgia?

A new Rasmussen poll shows John McCain leading Barack Obama by only 10 points in Georgia.  51% say they'll vote for McCain, 41% for Obama and 6% for other.  Since Rasmussen's last poll, McCain is down 2 and Obama is up 2.  George W. Bush defeated John Kerry in the state by almost twice that margin.
