Mike Bowers could not be reached for comment

Notes's picture

Ohio is abuzz over Democratic Attorney General Marc Dann’s admission of an affair with a member of his staff. Governor Ted Strickland, a fellow Democrat, has called on Dann to resign, as have legislators from both parties, who are threatening the AG with impeachment. Dann’s situation seems mild compared to that of ex-New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, who had served as AG prior to his election as Governor.  Republicans in Ohio are calling on Strickland to explain his seeming inconsitency in calling for Dann's resignation.  In Congress, he voted against impeaching former President Bill Clinton for a nearly identical infraction.

Republican Congressional Candidate Accused of Domestic Violence

One of the three Republicans vying for their Party's nod to take on the Democrat in Georgia's 12th Congressional district this November is facing accusations of domestic violence from his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Former Savannah talk radio host Ben Crystal, whose full name is Anthony Bennett Garrison Crystal, is currently going through divorce proceedings in which his estranged wife alleges that he "violently ejected" her out of their shared home while she was recovering from surgery.

Court documents filed in Chatham County Superior Court, May 6th, also claim that Crystal committed adultery and requests a divorce be granted on the grounds of "mental cruelty."

Mike Bowers has reinvented himself

Why seek a comment from Mike Bowers? After all, Mike's tyrist outside of his marriage happened more than ten years ago. After blaming the Democratic Party for exposing the contradiction between his public posture and private life, he switched to the Republican Party, which welcomed him with open arms. Georgia's Republican Party, noted for its strong embrace of "family values," has granted Mike Bowers quite a bit of influence.

Republicans are a forgiving bunch

Republicans are a forgiving bunch. Wonder why they are so discriminating when it comes to the sins of Democrats?

John Stone curious no-show at GOP State Convention

12 District congressional candidate John Stone “got some explaining” to do: If the most important people in the Georgia GOP were in Columbus this weekend, why did he blow off the state convention. Is he:

1. Arrogantly confident that he does not need to let them get a better look at him and his positions.
2. More interested in serving some rich Washington insiders who sent him down to poor old Georgia to get a seat they can control.
3. Trying to avoid Bush and the GOP establishment so he can “re-brand” himself as a moderate rather than the ultra-conservative he was when he started the race.
4. Not wanting to explain statements like “congressional Democrats are tax and spend, and congressional Republicans are just spend.”
