Although many members of the press corps have written off what's left of Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign, Georgia surrogates for Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama have upped the ante for the upcoming statewide delegate selection. Fearing "faithless" delegates that are pledged to support one candidate but are free to back another candidate in the event of a contentious floor vote, the campaigns are using a DNC rule to strike all candidates for delegate so that just one per slot remains on the ballot. If the campaigns go through wtih this plan, it would make May 24's meeting of the Democrats' state committee largely ceremonial. By comparison, in 2004 more than 100 people vied for the handful of at-large and party leader delegate slots.
