Rep. Earl Ehrhart's former employer, the Facility Group, and its top executives including CEO Robert Moultrie were re-indicted by federal prosecutors on June 19th. The new indictment was unsealed today. The new indictment, which replaces the prior one, alleges that the company used "straw contributors" to circumvent state contribution limits. A straw contributor is someone who gives to a campaign and is then reimbursed by someone else for their donation, in this case the company.
The Facility Group's troubles stem from a failed beef processing plant that the company built in Oakland, Mississippi which cost the state more than $50 million and 400 lost jobs after it closed just a few weeks after it was completed in 2004. Federal prosecutors contend that the Facility Group knew about problems with the plant but didn't inform the state. In Georgia, the Facility Group and Moultrie are politically connected and manage construction jobs for numerous government entitites, including Speaker Glenn Richardson's Paulding County.
Where Theres Smoke
Someone better look at the foundation of CTC (Chattahoochee Technicall College). A donation, a president, and a couple of contracts to provide over 20 Million in services to DTAE and Chattahoochee Technical College based on the recommendations of the CTC management staff. Hmmm... something really smells here. I wonder who else is tied to that foundation and using it to.... Oh yes! My name is Earl. :)
You better start talking EArl the Pearl!!!!
you can tell the people you represent that you have no clue of the political games FG played!
In 1 week, the firm picked up 2 large State DTAE Projects, Columbus Technical College and Athens TEchnical College.
And what about Chattahoochee Tech, where Ms. Moultrie served on the Foundation!
come on, get real
just like Rev Wrigh/Obama had no clue to the sermons for 20 yr
Yo State Rep Erhart, guess you had no clue of the contributions/payoffs during your tenure as Sr. VP?
What did Earl know and when did he know it?
The Facility Group is a pretty small company. Earl was one of the top 5-6 people working there. Earl helped his company land lots of fat local government construction contracts. It didn't hurt that ol' Earl was a powerful State Rep, did it? Earl's ol' buddy, former State Rep Robin Williams, currently cooling his heels in a Federal Prison, decided to tell all to his Federal Masters in hopes of knocking off some of his 10 year sentence. And Earl doesn't know anything about the crimes? Give me a break....I expect Earl to be indicted for his complicity in these matters at some point in the future. He's probably negotiating his plea deal right now.
Earl the Pearl!
I agree with the above statement.
So you were not aware of all the STATE projects Facility Group was winning.
Lets see here.... you are Ways & Means dude, the power man, and approve the states budget.
and you were a paid SR VP with the firm. Give me a break
