The New York Times reports in an article today that the Presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama's withdrawal of television advertising in Georgia prior to the two conventions will become permanent. Obama is unveiling a new strategy for the General Election that aims to spend television money and other resources largely on the traditional battleground states from 2000 and 2004.
In addition to Colorado, Iowa, New Mexica, Nevada and Ohio, states that Sen. John Kerry targeted but lost in 2004, Obama plans to target two states that haven't been won by a Democrat since 1964: Indiana which borders Obama's home state of Illinois and Virginia, which has elected two Democratic governors this century and is on the path to completing a Democratic sweep of its US Senate seats due to shifting voter allegiances and population trends concentrated in its Washington D.C. suburbs.
November Epiphany: Vernon Jones key to Senate Super Majority
http://projectlogicga.wordpress.com/
Former Senate candidate Vernon Jones of Georgia might be the second most powerful Black man in America on November 5th. If Libertarian Allen Buckley gets a few points, the Saxby Chambliss- Jim Martin Senate race goes into a runoff. The question becomes which side gets their voters back out. Obama or McCain would be president-elect at that point.
John Podesta, former Clinton White House Chief of Staff, heads Obama’s transition planning. Well, he had better planned to mend fences with Vernon Jones, who still has a supportive network across the state. While he did not win his Senate runoff, Jones could sway the Chambliss – Martin runoff easily. Treat Vernon like Rodney Dangerfield and there goes the filibuster-proof majority.
In 1992, Georgia Senate Wyche Fowler loss to Paul Coverdell because Libertarian Jim Hudson forced a runoff. Bill Clinton made Fowler Ambassador to Saudi Arabia—Clinton also thanked Rep. Maxine Waters for her support by appointing her husband Sidney Williams as U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas.
Vernon Jones gets the last laugh at the Democratic establishment that wanted Martin over him. Mr. Jones, take my advice: become U.S. Ambassador to Spain or some Caribbean paradise and put me staff for pushing the idea
Obama is alive and kickin in Georgia
The Obama Campaign just put an additional 2 paid staffers in our office!
Go Blue Georgia!
Obama Drops Georgia TV
Obama may be prepared to concede Georgia, but his supporters are not. I went to vote early in DeKalb County, and the lines were very long. I asked an official was this the lunch crowd. "It's like this all day long," was the reply. I expect DeKalb County will vote heavily for Obama. It certainly remains to be seen if the predicted Obama voters will be joined by enough others. Nonetheless, it is way to early to give up. For example, somebody needs to explain to Seniors what Republican favorite ideas like prvatizing Social Security would mean in the current Wall Street situation.
Obama Campaign - WE NEED GEORGIA!
Please please do not stop TV ads in Georgia.
We can turn it blue!
